Pianist, vocalist, author, playwright, actor, director, teacher, historian, fundraiser and promoter Peter Gill is quite simply a phenomenon.
His boogie woogie piano talents were pinpointed in 1999 when he was asked to co-open Jool's Holland's Jam House in Birmingham. In that same year SONY asked him to travel with them to Seville in Spain to entertain them with his cool cocktail jazz following the release of his first album and then he was commissioned to create his first rock 'n' roll and 'Duelling Pianists' show for theatres.
In the Millenium Year American Express approached Peter to bring a show band to London's Grosvenor House Hotel to entertain their top clients, this spawned The Peter Gill Band - a strictly 'for special occasions only' band with a line up of musicians taken from the country's 'most gifted' list.
Peter is effectively on constant national and international tour and has been for over ten years. Performing as a solo artist, with his renowned jazz trio, with the 'Duelling Pianists' show and more recently with the nation's favourite rock 'n' roll band STATE 51 in the theatre show 'Let The Good Times Roll'.
Peter has performed for and with some of the country's most notable names including Shirley Bassey, Catherine Jenkins, Brian May, Mike d'Abo, Jools Holland, Steve Coogan and Anita Dobson.
In 2008 Peter wrote, directed and performed in his play 'Talbot House - a home from home'. Set in Belgium during the first world war the play tells the true story of the 'Everyman's Club' where soldiers of any rank were welcome to visit for a break from the ravages that surrounded them. The play is now also on national tour with bookings into 2010.
Yet another of Peter's touring theatre productions is 'An Evening with the Humour of Bob Newhart and Tom Lehrer'. Premiering at The Brewery Arts Centre, Kendal in Cumbria in January 2009 this two man show reminds audiences of the songs and sketches of America's top two satirists of the 1950s and 1960s.
As well as producing many successful recordings Peter has written articles and books and appears regularly on national television and radio both in his capacity as a musician and as an author and historian.
Peter is also a committed fundraiser, in particular for the Bristol Children's Hospital where his son Ethan was treated successfully on two separate occasions.
His past exploits have involved, the release of a charity single, bringing together the cream of musicians for charity concerts, jumping out of aircraft and running the London Marathon (twice).
