THE PETER GILL JAZZ TRIO
"Cool, sophisticated jazz for those with an ear for a good melody"
|
To different people the term 'jazz' means different things, to some it is Dixieland Jazz played by men with straw boaters by the riverside, to others it is a harsh clash of disharmonies knitting together to form a Picassoesque musical statement and yet to others it is a sublime, relaxed journey around a recognised melody with added and original attractions. |
The Peter Gill Jazz Trio are skilled and inventive improvisers who appreciate the jazz standards that have tested the course of time. When they improvise and play around those familiar melodies they do so in a way that is melodic, harmonious and accessible to all. No melody is out of bounds but it is the jazz of Frank Sinatra, Nat 'King' Cole, Ella Fitgerald, Harry Connick jr., Antonio Carlos Jobim, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis with the occasional thrust of boogie woogie piano that is most associated with the trio.
 |
Always in demand for every type of jazz gig imaginable from national festivals, to sophisticated upper echelon restaurants, to smoke-filled 'connoisseurs only' jazz houses the class of this trio is appreciated by all.
Peter's smooth vocals and distinct piano touch allied to the sexy free tones of a saxophone and the creativity of a well caressed guitar never fail to please.
